Journey Enterprises Network House, Acomb, Industrial Est, Acomb, Hexham NE46 4SA |Countywide|Maggie Leadbeater| 01434 724026 | info@journeyenterprises.co.uk | www.journeyenterprises.co.uk The Charity was originally called Northumbria Daybreak, founded by parents of young adults with complex learning disability living rurally. We rebranded as Journey in late 2017 and work across a rurally dispersed catchment covering Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and Durham Tees Valley. The Charity provides day services to enable young adults/adults with complex disability to learn life skills in community and, where possible, training for supported volunteering or part-time employment. Adults attend our day services in our three operating sites and using local community facilities, businesses and our natural landscape & heritage. Our Clients have conditions such as Down’s Syndrome, William’s Syndrome, Fragile X and Cerebral Palsy. All are deemed ‘work incapable’ under the current Work Capability Assessment (Department for Work & Pensions). We run a number of enterprises to provide vital services to the community and to train our Clients in employability skills including community kitchens providing lunches for older isolated & low income adults, Hexham Station Kiosk, market stalls, allotments and horticultural services (hanging baskets) and woodcraft (bird and insect boxes, garden benches).
