What makes some alumni events vibrant, some others awkward, and many plain painful?
Why do most companies seem to do too much, or too little (and, in both cases, nearly always too boring)?
The answer is in the eye of the beholder : it's the sense of community, stupid. But how does one create that?
We've aggregated thousands of interviews and survey responses over the past few years to identify the drivers for the sense of community among alumni. And through that process, we've identified a number of companies that are finding great levers to drive engagement from their alumni. We want to showcase these companies, and the input we heard from alumni, by sharing this list.
None of the companies highlighted in this list have paid to be included, and companies that offered a quid proquo have been excluded. 3 companies have opted out of this list because they perceived our description to be too negative.
All data used in this study was collected with full consent from user interviews at Alumeet and Alee.
This alumni community has a strong core, and is heavily supported by the firm. The culture of "paying it forward" really lives on with alumni, who leverage a stellar community of leaders for personal and professional development, and give back to the firm by mentoring others.
